Report on The Wokingham Bowling Club Tour to Hereford, 2nd to the 5th of May 2025.
Once again, we visited Herefordshire staying at the Holme Lacy House hotel which is an excellent venue, a lovely location with very good accommodation, excellent food and plenty of entertainment. A total of 52 went on the tour consisting of 42 Bowlers and 10 non-Bowlers.
Moving on to our Bowling performances, on Friday we sent out one team to play at Eastnor and another team to play at Ledbury. The result at Eastnor was a win for Eastnor scoring 102 shots against Wokingham’s 68. We won on one rink losing on Four. Our top rink was Margaret Allen, Beverley McWilliam, David Adams and Adrian Chipper.
The result at Ledbury was a win for Ledbury scoring 111 shots to Wokingham’s 72. Our top rink was, Mark Jackson, Dave Robinson & Cyndy Price-Finnie.
On Saturday we played St. Martins and Hereford. The result at St Martins was a win for St Martins scoring 109 shots against Wokingham’s 84 shots . We won on two rinks, losing on four rinks. Our top rink was Nigel Robb, Pam Monkhouse, David Adams and Cyndy Price- Finnie.
The Result at Hereford was a win for Wokingham scoring 78 shots against Hereford’s 74 shots. We won on 2 rinks, drew on one rink and lost on two rinks. Our top rink was Gen Hughes, Debbie Hewitt, Mark Jackson & Barry Woolley.
On Sunday we played at Leominster & Kingsland. The result at Leominster was a win for Leominster scoring 114 shots against Wokingham’s 84 shots. Wokingham winning on two rinks, drew on one rink and losing on three rinks. Our top Rink was Sylvia Pearce, Mark Jackson, Beverley McWilliam and David Fielding.
The result at Kingsland was a win for Kingsland scoring 82 shots against Wokingham’s 75, We won on one rink and lost on four. Our top rink was Barbara Woolley, Bill Finnie, Alun Hughes and Gerry Deeves.
Overall Wokingham had 10 rink wins, drawing on two rinks with the Herefordshire clubs winning on 21 rinks. With Wokingham scoring a total of 461 shots and the Herefordshire clubs 592.
With regards to the Players scores, dealing with the Ladies first,
In Third place was Debbie Hewitt with a plus 11 , in Second place was Pam Monkhouse with a plus 12 and in First place and Top Lady was Barbara Woolley with a score of plus 16
Moving on to the Men, in third place was Adrain Chipper with plus 8. In second place was David Adams with plus 8 and in first and Top Gent was Mark Jackson with a plus 23.
