LAWS
A copy of the laws of the game can be downloaded from here.
The updated (fourth) version of the laws of the sport came into effect Aprl 2023.
The 4th version brought in a new law that punishes (disqualifies) a side that deliberately stops it's own bowls; see law37.1. A statement at the time about this from RCBBA is listed at the foot of the page (law37.1.pdf).
Subsequently World Bowls withdrew this new law - follow this link to their site. A copy of this statement is also listed at the foot of this page (revoke of law 37.1 pdf).
The list below still shows the changes resulting from the introduction of the previous 3rd version - see 'summary law changs 2014' in the list below. This has been left as it explains (in new law 3.3) about playing on the same rink in a competition. In effect it means that you are allowed to play twice on the same rink if you have been drawn to play on them. What is prohibited is practicing on the same rink as you have been drawn on.
The Foreword to the laws makes clear that references to 'must' and 'will' within the laws means that the action is compulsory. References to 'can' means that the action is optional.
LAW 28: BOWL DISPLACEMENT
This law is one of the more complex laws. Attachment at foot of the page provides a simpler guide to parts 1 -3 of this law (i.e. where a player disturbs a wood when it is moving, and also where wood is disturbed by a "neutral object"). The attachment also covers cases where the jack is displaced.
